RAMCO Norway
In 1983, following the success of the ‘new’ tubular cleaning service
developed in Aberdeen, Ramco were invited to open a facility in Norway.
Ramco, Norway AS was established in January 1984 with the installation of a
mobile Pipe Care Unit (PCU) at the Norsea (Aker) base in Tananger.
Since those early days, our customer base has included the major operators,
tubular rental companies, steel mills and various supply houses. In excess
of 400,000 joints of tubing and casing have been serviced and maintained by
this facility. For the last decade or so, a further service has required
Ramco to prepare tubulars onshore ready for offshore use. This additional
business has been completed successfully and long term contracts have been
placed with Ramco to provide this service.
A second PCU was located in Florø in 1990 and has been employed since
that time on descaling new tubulars for a major Norwegian oil company.
Tubulars are delivered directly into Floro from a Japanese Steel mill and
over 360,000 joints have now been processed.
This facility has also recently been awarded a long term contract for the
onshore preparation of well tubulars. As a part of this contract, provision
will be made to supply the preparation service at the Northern Base’s of
Sandnessjoen and Hammerfest. Contact point for these locations will be

Ramco Norway AS have, over the years, developed a tried and trusted record
of ensuring that tubulars passing through the facilities are run, with
confidence, into offshore wells. All contamination has been removed and pipe
is delivered to offshore installations in a ‘ready to run’ condition.
