In the years since Ramco pioneered the concept of the Pipe Care Unit (PCU), the oil industry has changed dramatically and attitudes to tubular maintenance have changed along with it.

Today, the emphasis is on cost reduction and asset protection, with more and more companies now acknowledging the benefits of clean pipe - for their budget as well as for the environment.

Here are the facts: tubulars that don't make the grade can mean downhole failures or rejection at the well site. In some cases the ramifications can be more serious, even leading to a blow-out. Either way, it can mean costly down-time; downtime that today's industry can ill afford.

But these failures can almost always be avoided. Ramco developed the system to do it. Our pioneering work with tubular care technology led to Ramco fixed-base Tubular Service Centres being employed worldwide and saw tubular rejection rates plummet from 30% to just 2%.Today, that technology is mobile, and can be easily transported to worksites around the world. A Ramco PCU can be up and running within 48 hours of arriving on site.

The PCU is a modular design. Four standard ISO shipping containers house the process plant, which includes automatic external shot blasting or power wire brushing equipment, internal blast lances, internal spray and drift lances and external coating equipment.

A fifth container comprises the power pack, with 900 cfm compressor, air cooler, dryer, receiver and generator, making the PCU a totally independent facility. And with integral grit recycling and dust recovery systems, and weather protection modules for the most adverse conditions, the PCU also provides a controlled working environment.

At short notice a PCU can be shipped by road, sea or rail to your yard. And within 48 hours of arriving on site, the PCU with its 5-man Ramco team, will be up and running to start your tubular maintenance programme.

Ours is a proven system, tried and tested in some of the world's harshest environments. It has been developed to such a stage that we can now carry out cleaning and coating services on line pipe up to 24" in diameter.
