Company Profile and Capability Statement
Ramco Oil Services Limited (ROSL) is an independent Scottish company.
Formed in 1977 ROSL has two divisions, Tubular Services and BSR, which operate throughout the UK, Norway and Japan. In addition it has previous experience in areas such as Canada, Far East, Middle East and the USA.
ROSL specialises in the internal and external blast cleaning and protective coating of steel pipes used in the exploration and production sector for the recovery and transmission of oil and gas.
Ramco Tubular Services Limited (RTSL)
In the period since 1979 RTSL has processed over 3.7 million joints of pipe worldwide on behalf of major operators, steel mills and trading houses such as BP, Shell, ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips, Statoil, JFE, Vallourec, Tenaris, Sumitomo, Marubeni Itochu and Mitsui.
This division of Ramco specialises in the internal and external abrasive cleaning and application of protective coatings to threaded downhole pipe used in the recovery of oil and gas from the reservoir to the surface.
The process which involves the removal of millscale and corrosion from new and used tubulars prior to the application of coatings has the obvious benefit of protecting pipe whilst in storage. In addition the process has a long established record of improving completion and well performance through the removal of debris and contamination.
The company has developed a mobile containerised system, the Pipe Care Unit, capable of processing tubulars from 2 3/8" – 14" in diameter. The PCU's modular design within standard shipping containers houses the process plant, compressors, generators, workshops and stores require for a fully operational tubular cleaning facility. Within days of arrival at the worksite the PCU can be assembled and ready to commence tubular maintenance operations.
In addition RTSL has extensive experience in the area of stockyard management and materials logistics. In Aberdeen for example RTSL now stores BP and Shell's entire UK North Sea tubular inventory at a single location where it manages, controls and co-ordinates the maintenance, movement and logistics of the pipe as well as the procurement of any associated equipment. New stock is delivered directly to our storage yards, pipe is issued in a ready to run condition and prepared for the well site. The maintenance of returned tubulars is managed through the inspection, cleaning and repair process back to prime condition within inventory.
BSR
BSR specialises in the cleaning and coating of project linepipe from 2" through to 48" which is used in the distribution and transmission of oil and gas products.
In the period since 1988 BSR has processed and coated over 4300 Km both internally and externally using a range of coating materials.
Customers have included major operators such as BP, Shell and Phillips, gas operators such as Transco and lay contractors on projects such as Bluestream.
The process itself involves the thorough cleaning and treatment of the steel surface, induction heating of the steel and the application of Fusion Bonded Epoxy powder or Multi-layer polyethylene or polypropylene coatings.
The coating systems are designed to provide long term corrosion protection to pipelines during the lifetime of the projects.
